Time Trial Make-up Instructions
Good evening, ‘Ray parents!
For those of you who are not going to be able to make time trials there are some steps that need to be followed.
- Contact Coach Nina ([email protected]) to let her know
- Time your swimmer *see below for instructions.
- Turn in your swimmer’s times to a coach.
This all has to be completed BEFORE time trials (if your child wakes up sick on Saturday morning, or you do, we will find a way around this, but if you know ahead of time, PLEASE do this before Saturday.)
*HOW TO TIME YOUR SWIMMER
At each practice this week there will be a lane dedicated to timing swimmers. The PARENT (not the coach) is responsible for making sure your child is timed. There will be a bin of stopwatches along with timing sheets by the pool.
- Take a sheet, filling in your swimmer’s name and age group
- Grab a stopwatch
- Look at the sheet to see what events you will have to time your swimmer in.
- Go in order, just as we would at the meet
- Have them get ready to dive in (or be on the side for backstroke) and make sure they are ready
- Tell them to start, starting the watch at the same time.
- If they are swimming 25 y (10 & unders) they will end at the other end of the pool. You can walk while they swim, or start with them at the other side, whatever works best for them and you.
- Stop the watch as they touch the wall
- Write the times on the sheet
- Give them a few min to rest, possibly allowing another swimmer to do a set, depending on how many are trying to time at once. A little rest in between doesn’t hurt.
Be kind, share the lane as needed, help each other out, and allow each swimmer to do their best.
Thank, y'all! Looking forward to seeing you poolside!
