COACHES CORNER
Happy Sunday, Stingrays!
Happy Mothers Day to all our Stingray moms, step moms, and grandmas! We love you all!
Yall showed up in all the best ways on Saturday!! Your hard efforts and dedication the last 3 weeks paid off with a landslide win over the Dolphins! As excited as the coaches are about a WIN, we are even more proud of the incredible attitudes, sportsmanship, and sense of community we saw from swimmers, parents, and volunteers. We are all so fortunate to belong to such an outstanding community!
A huge thank you to our volunteers who made this meet go so smoothly, especially to our 9/10 Boys tent parent who went above and beyond the call of duty to get swimmers ready for their relays. We also had the smoothest 'scratch' process ever! Thank you so much to all the parents who emailed me their scratches. We had ZERO surprise scratches, which has never happened in my 6 years of coaching summer league! Keep it up, parents!!
Coaches Elise, Cassie, Ryan, and I all saw huge improvement from last week's Time Trials, most notably in our 7-10 year old butterflies, 11-19 turns (both flip turns and our IM turns), and our 6 and unders staying on their backs during backstroke.
This week we are going to start building endurance, and recap Breaststroke arms in our 7-10s. Breaststroke and butterfly require a ton of coordination and patience from our swimmers, DQs are very normal at this stage of the season.
This week for meet declaration, please have your swimmers choose 1 event they are confident in, and one they struggle with. I know away meets are challenging, but please remember that attendance is even more important at away meets. We had over 200 swimmers at the Fairfield meet, let's bring that many to Shenandoah!
See yall at the pool,
Coach Emily
