VOLUNTEER OF THE WEEK WINNER

We received several great nominations, but the individuals with the most nominations were Amanda Duran & Mark Briker!! Here are just a few of the reasons why Amanda & Mark exemplified the Stingray’s spirit -

  • She’s a great tent parent, I’ve worked with her many time since last season and she makes things flow nicely at the tent, always with a positive attitude, knows everything that is going on, very attentive with the time, knows all the kids, have extra goggles if they need to borrow, has encouraging words for them before they swim, congratulates them afterwards, very motivating, great with the kids.
  • I've worked several times over the years with Amanda as a tent parent, most recently in the 9/10 year old girl's tent. As we all know there are a lot of 9/10 year old girls. Amanda always organizes the parent volunteers and the swimmers in a kind and friendly way. She is always on top of what the next thing is to do for the swimmers and makes sure that all the swimmers get recognized for their swims. She keeps track of their times and makes sure to let the girls know how they did in their event. She is awesome to work with and I'm always happy to see her when I volunteer in the tents because I know things will run smoothly!
  • This week, I'd like to wholeheartedly recommend Mark Biker as Volunteer of the Week. He has consistently gone above and beyond in his role with concessions. Mark is always the first to step up and help out with concessions, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation. Whether it's setting up, taking orders, or working the cash register, he brings a positive attitude and a dedication to providing excellent customer service. But Mr. Briker's contributions extend far beyond his assigned duties. He consistently demonstrates a proactive approach, anticipating needs and taking initiative to solve problems before they arise. This includes tasks like keeping inventory stocked, ensuring food orders are made, and even helping with cleanup after events. Thanks to Mark's dedication and hard work, concessions are consistently a success. He plays a vital role in ensuring a positive experience for everyone involved. Mark Briker is a true asset to our team, and I am grateful for his exceptional volunteer service.
  • Mark's Stingray spirit shines through with his willingness to step in and help anytime he is available and also in his attitude when helping. No matter if you are someone he just met or someone he's known, he treats you kindly and with enthusiasm.

OAK RIDGE INFORMATION & PARKING MAP

Where to park: (a) street parking on the winding roads near the park on S. Hillsdale Dr. or (b) in the parking lot at Center for Pediatric Therapy (big metal building between Mattress Clearance Center and Rooms to Go gaining access to that parking lot from the feeder road off I-45; do not park at Rooms-to-Go). No reserved parking any longer according to the City of Oak Ridge.

Visiting team set-up: Set-up under the large covered Pavilion that is also a basketball court. That can get crowded for larger teams, so there is also space to set up tents and chairs outside of the pool in park areas.
