COACHES CORNER

Happy Sunday Stingrays!

*****8 and under: 2 favorites & 10 and up: 1 favorite and 1 event from time trial or Fairfield times

Congratulations on a good, well earned WIN against the Oak Ridge Otters! They had us outnumbered, but yall showed up and exceeded our expectations! On Friday I asked everyone to bring their "A game" to the meet, and you did!! Last year taught us to lose with grace (not getting down on ourselves, picking ourselves back up, maintaining a positive attitude). This year we are learning how to win with grace. Winning with grace means we are not bragging about wins, we are maintaining good sportsmanship, and staying focused on areas where we can improve and continue to get better.

This week our 10 and unders will keep working on common DQs in butterfly, breaststroke, and Backstroke. 11 and ups will build endurance and do some work on our turns/transitions. As we get closer to Divisionals and End of Season Invitationals, the amount of endurance needed from swimmers increases. Those meets are long, and if there hasn't been enough training swimmers will struggle to stay ready for their later events.

We are transitioning into our morning practices, please refresh your memory on the schedule (found in the 'Practice' tab on the website). I understand some of our working parents struggle with morning practices- we do have make up practices for those who really can't make it to mornings. Please do not send your swimmers to the make up practices if they can go in the mornings!

Swimmer of the week: We have passed out SOTW caps the last few weeks, and I did not remember to include the list in the weekly emails, and I apologize for that! This last week we did not do a swimmer of the week due to the cancelations. We will hand out 2 caps per gender in each age group this week.

Week 1 SOTW- Claire Hinton, Lucas Salinas, Hannah Scholl, Hudson Garland, Hailey Thomas, Eli Harvey, Sadie Wallace, Henry Wuzzager, Shayla Randle, Daniel Rariden

Week 2 SOTW- Madelin Jungblut, Nolan Delay, Olivia Hixon, Fletcher Lewis, Audrey Wahrenburger, Sky Thompson, Kinsley Conger, Eli Briker, Alyssa Svreck, Gabe Parker, Yulia George, Dalton Moore

Week 3 SOTW- Amelia Blades, Weston Wacasey, Cora Martin, Damon Dewey, Sofia Hixon, Mateo Salinas, Hannah Schoaf, Trey Knight, Reese Wilson, Brayden Briker, Kenzi Randle, Luke Waterman

Congratulations, Stingrays! Keep up the positive attitudes and hard work!

Best of luck to our swimmers at the Sprint Sizzler Mid Season Invitational today and tomorrow! Come cheer on your teammates if you can! We are at the CFISD Natatorium 11-3ish today, and 4pm- 10ish on Monday!

See you at the pool!
